You don’t need a farm to begin.
Simple changes at home can build a life rooted in wellness and self-reliance.
Hi, I’m Brittany — single mama of four, long-time homesteader, and creator of practical tools for people who want to raise capable kids and live closer to the land.
I didn’t grow up with this lifestyle. I was raised — like so many of us — to fear nature. “Don’t eat that, it could be poisonous” was the warning I heard about dandelions… never knowing they were once a treasured healing plant. Like most people, I wasn’t taught how to care for myself at the most basic level — how to use the sun, the soil, and the seasons to nourish a body, a home, or a family.
Everything changed when I became pregnant with my first child. I didn’t just want to do things better — I wanted to go back in time. To raise children who know how to live with the land instead of against it. Who understand the rhythms of their bodies and their environment. Who know how to feed themselves, care for themselves, and depend on systems because they choose to, not because they have no other option.
Over the past decade, I’ve built a life of self-sufficiency from the ground up — growing our own food, making our medicine, homeschooling, baking sourdough, and keeping a home that works in alignment with nature. I’ve lived in big cities, in the countryside, and everywhere in between — from a tiny apartment balcony to 80 wild acres — and I’ve learned that simplicity isn’t about doing less, it’s about doing what matters most.
Through my shop and brand, Growing Self-Sufficiency, I share the very tools and guides I wish I’d had when I was starting out:
✔️ Done-for-you garden planners
✔️ Herbal remedy and tea blending guides
✔️ Homeschool unit studies
✔️ Foraging guides and calendars
✔️ And resources that put the power back in your hands
Because I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by it all — and I know how life-changing it is to start building your family's future one step at a time.
If you're ready to return to what your ancestors knew — and gift that knowledge to your children — you're in the right place.
I’m so glad you’re here.
